I'm 66. When I was at high school, I was into the do-wop sound, and Emile Ford Conwat Twitty, The Everly Brothers etc. I loved it; I used to buy 3 records a week then. Then the Beatles came along and totally changed the music scene. I was shattered(!) Music was never the same. Then I found Rick Wakeman and Pink Floyd etc. Now fast forward to 21st Cent. I find Classical music: Something I always put down. Rachmaninov, Grieg to name two composers. There is so much more to music now. The emotion, the beauty, the grandeur. (Thank you Thomas Edison for your inventions. Today we can enjoy the wonder of stereo sound.)
I remember the scandal of one DJ in the 50's where he took bribes to play and promote companies music.
Today I'm convinced that the modern music is pushed onto the young people for them to 'have their own sound'. This keeps the industry alive and finacially buoyant. Plus lining pockets with money. Which is the whole reason the pop market exists.
